1s promotion hopes end with Aldenham loss

12 Mar 2018

The OHAFC 1st XI's promotion hopes were all but extinguished on Saturday after a meek 2-1 loss away to the Old Aldenhamians in Hertfordshire.

The hosts took the lead from a free-kick midway through the first half and scored a second ten minutes after the break courtesy of a shot that Fraser McGuinness may have done better with.

Leading scorer James Breeden pulled one back with ten minutes remaining but the visitors couldn't find an equaliser and, although they remain mathematically in the promotion equation, it would take a minor miracle for the side to finish second now.

The fixture did mark the OHAFC debuts of James and Tom Walduck, sons of former OHAFC striking legend Jason 'Jaggers' Walduck, and the two boys performed creditably enough on a tough afternoon.

Saturday's team lineup and match report is now available in the results section here.

The Blues have one fixture remaining, the visit of Cholms to the Hill, but this will take place after Easter.
