1s return to winning ways against Malvernians

13 Dec 2017

The OHAFC 1st XI put their two recent defeats behind them and shrugged off the concession of an early goal to comfortably beat the Old Malvernians on Saturday afternoon. Despite being locked at 2-2 going into the break, a strong second-half showing saw the hosts run out 6-2 winners by the final whistle.

James Breeden continued his excellent goalscoring run with two more to take his tally for the season to 17 (14 in the League) but the headline act was the return to action of Freddie Brunt after more than four years away. The 32 year-old returned from Rio just days before the fixture but, after shaking off some cobwebs in the first half, managed to bag himself two goals in the second as the hosts took control.

Harrow's other efforts came courtesy of skipper Yunus Sert and a magnificent solo effort from Dan Firoozan, who collected the ball in midfield, beat several defenders before curling into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Despite the win, the 1s remain in fourth place in Division One going into the winter break. The side have seven games remaining and are likely to have to win all of them if they are secure promotion back into the Premier Division at the first time of asking.
