Alex Gilbert's side proved victorious in the 2016 Festiphil tournament played up at the School on Saturday afternoon.

Four squads of sixteen - each containing eight schoolboys and eight Old Harrovians - played each other in a round robin group with games lasting 36 minutes each.

The opening pair of matches saw two draws played out with Gilbert's side, containing fit-again goalkeeper Charlie Walsh, held to a 0-0 draw by Alex Breeden's team. It was a game of few chances with neither Walsh nor opposite number Michael Nugent called upon to make any outstanding saves. The other fixture was a 1-1 draw between the teams led by Theo Gordon and Fred Richardson.

The second set of games saw a further draw for both Breeden's and Richardson's sides but Alex Gilbert's men took control of the group with a 2-0 win over Theo Gordon's side, including an individual effort of some quality from James Breeden, who slalomed his way through the box before firing home.

The final set of matches saw Alex Gilbert's side clinch the trophy with a second 2-0 win, this time over Fred Richardson's men. The other game saw Theo Gordon's side win 2-1 despite being on the back foot for much of the game against Alex Breeden's side.

OHAFC President Andy Butler thanked the beaks for giving up their time to referee the competition and awarded the Cup and medals to the winners. There was some debate as to who the leading goalscorer was, eventually the 'prize' of a deflated football was shared between two of the schoolboys.

There was no dispute as to the Young Player of the Tournament however, with Will Payne richly deserving his prize.

Once again the tournament proved an excellent advert for the Club with the games played competitively but in an excellent spirit. Thanks are due to Jaguar Bajwa for the excellent organisation on the day as well as selecting four very evenly matched sides - no easy feat given previous experiences.
