Conti von Hirsch crowned Fantasy League champ!

28 May 2017

2nd XI midfielder Conti von Hirsch has been crowned the 2016/17 OHAFC Fantasy League champion after leading the table for much of the season.

Conti's team, the aptly named 'Uncle Conti's Champs', comfortably saw off the challenge of closest rival Ed Poulter, whose late surge up the rankings saw him finish second. Conti's side amassed a fine total of 2,351 points during the season, just 213 behind the winner of the whole competition. Poulter's oddly-named 'Hakuna Mustafi' mustered 2,198 points with Hamnet Quinn, a surprise entrant into the OHAFC competition given that he is not an Old Harrovian, third, seventeen points further back. The top five is rounded off by Chris Thorn and Alex Smith.

At the other end of the table, it was perhaps appropriate that the three bottom sides all referenced players that have endured poor seasons in their team names.

Alec Fogarty collects his second dubious OHAFC award in quick succession, adding the Fantasy League Wooden Spoon to his victory in the Tour Weird List back in April. Foggy's 'Pogback Mountain' scored a lowly 1,453 points to end the season outside the top 3.5 million players. The inclusion of Spurs winger Erik Lamela, who has been injured for nearly the entire season, in his final matchday lineup suggests Foggy had perhaps lost interest at an early stage...

Fellow struggler James Breeden also referenced the wastrel Pogba in his 'Pogboom Ltd' and he finished third bottom, the two 'Pog-bores' sandwiching Ed Massey and his ridiculous ode to Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo with 'It's Sanogo'. It certainly is, Eddie baby...

Congratulations to Conti von Hirsch then and to all those who took part this season. See you next season for more Fantasy Football...
