Defensive errors cost 2nd XI against leaders

17 Oct 2016

Two unfortunate goalkeeping errors in the space of ten first-half minutes were enough to condemn the OHAFC 2nd XI to their second defeat of the season on Saturday in a hugely frustrating game against Division Three leaders the Old Alleynians.

Harrow had earlier taken the lead thanks to Gbeminiyi Soyinka's seventh goal in three games, but debutant goalkeeper Michael Nugent then allowed two long-range efforts to slip through his grasp and the game was turned on its head.

Nugent atoned for his error after the break with one excellent save and the visitors dominated the closing stages but couldn't force the equaliser their play undoubtedly deserved.

The side were not helped by an early injury to defender Phil Berry that forced him out of the action and later they were to lose impressive midfielder Pablo Hutchinson also - concerns for skipper Geoff Taunton-Collins going into next week's encounter with the Salopians' second string.

Saturday's team sheet and match report is now available in the results section.
