Depleted 2s exit JLC at quarter-final stage

19 Mar 2017

For the fourth time in five seasons the OHAFC 2nd XI exited the Junior League Cup at the quarter-final stage with a strong Westminsters 1st XI comprehensively seeing off the challenge of a depleted Harrow side 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Injuries forced skipper Geoff Taunton-Collins to leave leading scorer Gbeminiyi Soyinka on the bench and further misfortune befell the team when both Charlie Bick and Jonny Lalude received knocks in the first half.

Westminsters deservedly led and a mistake by the injured Bick saw them double their advantage moments into the second half.

Harrow, by now playing with barely ten fit players, rallied and threatened to make a game of it as several half-chances were created.

But the hosts proved too good and scored twice more following some excellent football to end Harrow hopes of cup glory this year.

The 2s must now regroup for this weekend's momentous clash with Division Three leaders the Old Alleynians.
