Early salvo fires 1s back into contention

16 Jan 2018

Three goals in the opening fifteen minutes of the game eased the OHAFC 1st XI to a comfortable enough win against bottom side the Old Reptonians at Merchant Taylors School on Saturday afternoon.

James Breeden scored twice, in the process overtaking Harry Hoffen's single season mark of 17 goals for the 1st XI (since stats began in 2009/10) and set up the other for brother Alex.

Josh Adejokun added two late goals, with Repton scoring twice themselves in the second half. The visitors could even afford to concede a penalty which the Repton skipper planted wide of the post.

In truth, it was a scrappy affair played on a poor pitch, Harrow's individual quality proving the difference between the teams.

Nevertheless, the win lifts Yunus Sert's men back into contention for promotion with six games left to play. Second-placed Berkhamstedians lost at leaders Bradfield, setting up a crunch clash between themselves and the OHAFC on the astroturf at Chiswick this Saturday.
