Arthurian League AGM review

14 Jul 2017

The Arthurian League AGM took place on Tuesday 11th July at the East India Club in St James's. Club Secretaries from almost all Arthurian League clubs were in attendance. The salient points from the meeting are below:

  • Our 3rd XI will remain in Division 5 South and will play 12 league games (including two versus new club, Old Shirburnians). The early rounds of the David Wolcott Trophy (Divisions 4 & 5 only) and the Junior League Cup will be two-legged affairs.
  • The Arthurian League, Arthurian League cups and Arthur Dunn Cup will not be adopting the yellow card 'sin bin' rule for 2017/18 despite rumours to the contrary. However, it will be trialled in other AFA leagues and will be used as punishment for dissent towards referees.
  • Match day fines will be re-introduced next season. This will include penalties for kicking off late, incomplete kit numbers on shirts, no corner flags etc. There will be particular focus on captains providing completed team sheets to referees prior to kick off.
  • Fines will also be introduced for players not being registered on the league database by midnight on Friday prior to the game.

The Club would like to encourage all players to be proactive in keeping fines to a minimum over the forthcoming season.
