Jack Orr-Ewing

biography

After a couple of flaky seasons with the 3rd XI, Jack became an established member of the 2nd XI squad and found himself at the heart of the defence alongside stand in centre back Nick Defty. The wannabe right back stood out immediately thanks to his dominance in the air and his positive ‘good to go’ attitude on and off the field.

The 2010/2011 season saw Jack cement a regular place in the back-line and formed an integral partnership with Simon Maydon in the centre of defence which provided a solid foundation for the rest of the team. In 2010 Jack was selected for the 1st XI to play against Lancing in the Arthur Dunn Cup First Round. After his usual extraordinary ‘over-excited puppy dog’ warm-up routine he declared himself unfit to play due to a back problem.

Not shy to express his various opinions on anything from the referee’s car to the tea lady’s stockings, Jack promises to entertain on a number of fronts in the years to come.

Jack was elected Hon Fixture Secretary in April 2012 and earned the honour of Weirest Tour Member following his antics on the Prague tour. He then organised a fantastic trip to Sofia a year later with the help of his Bulgarian counterpart, Rado.

After a successful loan deal in the Far East for the 2015/16 season, Jack is back at the heart of the 2nd XI defence playing alongside fellow stalwarts Phil Berry and Jack Robinson.
