Will Bamford

biography

A quick striker by nature, Will endured perhaps the most discouraging start to any OHAFC career in history!

With a strong reputation as an excellent player from school, Will was handed his debut at right-back for the 1st XI just prior to Christmas in 2014 as they made the trip to Brentwoods. Fielding an under-strength team, the visitors were overrun and ended up losing 8-2. Will started brightly, but was clearly lacking match fitness and, with no substitutes available, was forced to complete the ninety minutes on a heavy pitch.

Undaunted, he reappeared a fortnight later for an even tougher task - the trip to Charterhouse to play the League leaders. Ridiculously, the OHAFC lost 10-1 - one of their heaviest ever defeats in Arthurian League football. Will again played well but, understandably, the two results had done more than enough to dissuade him from pulling on an OHAFC shirt again and he was not to be seen again for several years...

Will returned to action under the leadership of Yunus Sert and scored his first goal for the club on the opening day of the 2017/18 season, thumping home a volley off the underside of the bar in the 1s' 2-2 draw away to Cholmeleians.
