A highly-controversial penalty in the 89th minute earned the OHAFC 3rd XI a point in their final fixture of the 2016/17 season. Jesse Duah raced through on goal, knocked the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper but was then sent sprawling to the turf.

To the incredulity of hosts Westminster, referee Richard Wilson pointed to the spot, with many of the players certain the foul had been committed a few yards outside the box. Nevertheless, striker Alex Smith held his never to coolly convert and ensure the 3s ended the season on a high note of sorts.

For a meaningless mid-table end-of-season clash, the game, played on a poor surface at Brunel University in Uxbridge, sparked into life towards the end of the first half as a series of challenges from both sides caused tempers to flare.

Westminsters took a two-goal lead courtesy of their pacey striker, the best player on the pitch in the first half. After twenty minutes he outpaced a static Harrow defence to latch onto a long ball over the top and rifle a left-foot shot into the top corner, 'keeper Emre Sert motionless as the ball flew past him.

Ten minutes later there was a good deal of fortune involved as a corner was curled beyond everyone to the far post where it almost hit the Westminster player on the head before looping back over Sert and into the far top corner.

Harrow threatened sporadically through Smith and Duah, the former coming closest to opening the visitors' account when a well-placed header beat the 'keeper but not the post, the ball ricocheting straight back into the Westminster stopper's hands.

Harrow were forced to make one change prior to the break with Charlie Robson limping off with a combination of an ankle/cigarette problem. Doug Pratt replaced him and Lederman then made his 3rd XI debut at half-time, replacing the struggling Woolley.

The second period saw Harrow in the ascendancy for long spells with a far greater drive and purpose about their play. In contrast, Westminsters were subdued, their striker now barely in the game.

Harrow halved the deficit on the hour mark, Oli Walker bundling in from close range after Geoff Taunton-Collins saw his effort blocked by the 'keeper.

Smith then had a great chance to level when Lederman whipped the ball over the last defender but the striker's effort was well saved.

Tempers began to flare as the half wore on with both Yunus Sert and Kyle Barrett heavily involved and at times referee Richard Wilson was left fighting a lone battle as both sets of players showed a surprising desire to compete given the relatively meagre rewards on offer for the win.

With time running out Harrow's patience was continually tested by the antics of the Westminster goalkeeper who leisurely strolled to collect every ball that had flown behind his goal, as well as making an absolute meal of a Lederman challenge.

Fittingly, it was his late challenge that earned Harrow the penalty at the death, Smith confidently picking the ball up and sending the 'keeper the wrong way to ensure that, despite finishing bottom of Division Five South, the OHAFC 3s would at least end the season on a happier note.
