1st XI begin season with ugly draw at Cholms

25 Sep 2017

The OHAFC 1st XI, playing for the first time under new skipper Yunus Sert, were forced to endure a testing pitch and some questionable refereeing decisions in their opening fixture of the 2017/18 season before safely emerging with a creditable 2-2 draw at the Old Cholmeleians in north London.

Goals from Will Bamford and James Breeden saw the visitors lead 2-0 just before the break but Cholms' direct style of play caused problems throughout and, with the help of a rather generous penalty decision, the hosts levelled ten minutes from time to claim a share of the spoils.

Despite the result, the performance from the Blues showed much promise and this will clearly be an interesting season for this new, much younger OHAFC 1st XI.

Next week the Blues travel to Bradfield for their second League fixture of the season.
