Last-minute goal consigns 2s to unjust defeat

24 Oct 2017

Once more the OHAFC 2nd XI failed to catch a break as they conceded a last-minute goal direct from a corner to Charterhouse 2s, the visitors earning a 2-1 win on the Hill.

In blustery conditions, both sides were evenly matched for much of the game. Charterhouse took the lead after an hour when Harrow 'keeper Kyri Pittalis was caught out by a close-range shot that squirmed through his grasp. The hosts responded through Gbeminiyi Soyinka, the substitute charging into the box before being brought down. He safely converted the resulting penalty.

But there was to be a cruel twist to the story as the visitors whipped in a number of dangerous corners in the closing moments. Several were just about cleared before the final one flew straight through the six yard box and into the far corner of the net.

The 2s remain rock bottom of Division Two and are still yet to earn a point this season, despite being competitive in all but two of their six games played.

The side now have a week off before returning to action on November 4th with a must-win home game against KCS Wimbledon 2s.
