2s into JLC quarters with dramatic late win

11 Feb 2018

The OHAFC 2nd XI made life difficult for themselves, but finally secured the win they deserved to edge past Sennockians and into the quarter-finals of the Junior League Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Early goals from Geoff Taunton-Collins and Will Payne looked to have set the hosts on course for a comfortable win against a side one division below them in the Arthurian League.

But Sennockians stuck to their task and pulled a goal back from a free-kick prior to half-time. The second half was a dour affair that exploded into life in the final few minutes. The visitors equalised with just three minutes remaining following a cross from the right.

But in the final minute Gbeminiyi Soyinka, as he has so often over the past decade, popped up to score the winner, collecting a long free-kick into the box and planting his shot into the bottom corner.

The OHAFC will now travel to Old Citizens for a tricky quarter-final tie in two weeks' time.
