2s luck finally changes in first win of the season

The OHAFC 2nd XI finally earned their first win of the season at the seventh attempt on Saturday with a dramatic 2-1 victory over third-placed KCS Wimbledon 2s.

The Blues played their best football of the season in the first half and deservedly led when Doug Morrison, who returned to action for the first time in a year following a bad knee injury, shrugged off a defender to fire in from close range.

Wimbledon rallied in the second half and forced the Blues to defend for long periods but the hosts had several gilt-edged opportunities to put the game to bed, Alhadeff and Lederman missing the best of them.

Wimbledon then equalised with a quarter of an hour remaining and as time ran down it appeared as though the teams would have to settle for a point apiece.

But Jack Alhadeff had other ideas, earning an 88th minute penalty when he capitalised on hesitation in the box and drew a foul from the Wimbledon 'keeper. Lederman kept his nerve to send the 'keeper the wrong way and fire home the winner.

The three points lift the side off the foot of the Division Two table ahead of next week's visit to the Old Radleians in Twickenham.
