Late drama but 1st XI stretch unbeaten run

19 Nov 2016

A dramatic closing fifteen minutes in Twickenham saw the OHAFC 1st XI denied two strong penalty shouts but then escape with a fortunate offside decision as a hard-fought game away to the Old Marlburians ended goalless on Saturday.

The result stretched the side's unbeaten run to four League games and keeps the side in seventh place in the Premier Division but in truth neither side did enough during the ninety minutes to earn the three points. A trip on Jesse Duah seemed a clear-cut foul inside the box (above) but the referee waved away Harrow appeals. The same player then turned again inside the area, the ball striking a Marlburian arm, but again no penalty was given.

Marlborough then thought they had won it with an excellent cross and header just before the end but the referee intervened and gave an offside decision that appeared harsh on the hosts.

The game was most notable for the appearance in the Harrow goal of Harison Saunders, who at 16 years old becomes the youngest player ever to represent the club. Harison appeared unfazed on debut and, barring one goalmouth scramble late on, performed solidly to help the side keep a clean sheet.
