Taunton-Collins appearance run set to end

27 Oct 2016

A remarkable commitment to the OHAFC cause over the past three seasons is set to come to a temporary halt on Saturday when 2nd XI skipper Geoff Taunton-Collins misses his first competitive game for the side since January 10th 2015 - when he was called up by the 1st XI.

Geoff played in every one of the 2s 22 League and Cup encounters last season, skippering the side to 4th place in Division Three and the quarter-finals of the Junior League Cup.

The previous season, his first for the Club, he again appeared in every 2nd XI fixture apart from two weekends when he was required by the 1s, January 10th 2015 and November 29th 2014.

Geoff also played in three other 1st XI games that season meaning that he made 23 appearances for the Club in 2014/15 and 22 last season (second only to Yunus Sert's 23 appearances). His total of 45 appearances for the Club over the previous two seasons is comfortably the most, veteran regular David Lederman is second on the list with 40 appearances.

Geoff is also one of only two players to appear in every 2nd XI game this season, alongside Jack Robinson, a feat matched by Yunus Sert and Alex Breeden for the 1st XI.

Geoff does have a relatively acceptable reason for missing his first competitive fixture for the Club in nearly two and a half seasons - work requires him to be in New York. He should be back for training next Wednesday however and the away trip to Salopians four days later - serious questions will be asked by the Club's hierarchy if he is not.

Many congratulations to the 2nd XI skipper on his remarkable run of appearances.
