Vets to celebrate 25 years at Bank of England Ground

9 Dec 2016

This Sunday will see a commemorative fixture played between the Bank of England Veterans and the OHAFC Veterans to mark the 25th anniversary of the club using the famous pitches in Roehampton.

Past OHAFC President Fred Woolley and current President Andrew Butler, who will line up for the OHAFC, will both attend the game and afterwards will present a plaque of the club's crest to Ian Wall of the Bank of England to mark the longstanding use of the pitches on Sunday mornings by the OHAFC.

Each season the club play around ten friendly fixtures on the excellent pitches in Roehampton with additional Veterans Cup matches held depending on the draw and, as has been the case in recent seasons, reaching the final of the Cup or Plate competitions.

Ironically, given the usually excellent condition of the pitches, Sunday's game will be the OHAFC Vets' first for a month with recent games being postponed following isolated spells of heavy rain. With a poor forecast for Saturday, it is greatly hoped Sunday's occasion on the main pitch will not fall foul of the weather.

Kick-off is 10.45am and all spectators are welcome.
