1s begin pre-season with Alleynians loss

22 Aug 2019

The OHAFC 1st XI began life under new skipper Fraser McGuinness with their first pre-season fixture of the new campaign on Wednesday night, suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to fellow Premier League side the Old Alleynians on the astroturf in Rotherhithe.

James Breeden scored either side of the break for the visitors, but two long balls over the top caused problems for the new-look Harrow back four and Alleynians took full advantage. The hosts earned the win courtesy of a well-struck free-kick with thirteen minutes remaining.

Nevertheless, it was a promising first performance of the summer and youngsters Ludo Palazzo and Henry Charaton adapted well to their first experience of mens' football. It was also pleasing to see Dan Abu back in OHAFC colours, alongside some of the more regular members of the squad.

A brief report of Wednesday night's encounter is now available in the results section. The 1s next take on the Old Tonbridgians at Colliers Wood FC on Tuesday night, their second friendly of pre-season.
