1st XI begin pre-season with encouraging win

28 Aug 2012

The OHAFC 1st XI tonight made their pre-season bow with an encouraging 2-0 win over the Old Radleians at Burlington Danes Academy in West London.

Despite missing five first team regulars, all unavailable through injury, a strong squad of 14 took to the field and displayed a decent level of fitness and sharpness for their first outing after the long summer break.

Sam Pepys made his first appearance since suffering a bad injury midway through last season, Johan Harder played the majority of the game and Jonathan Best reappeared in 1's colours after spending the second half of last season playing for the 2's.

It was three old-timers who were to create and score the two goals which gave Harrow the win however. Paul Molloy opened the scoring after twenty minutes when he curled a beautiful shot low into the far corner having been teeed up by Lederman on the edge of the box.

Lederman then settled matters with ten minutes to go when he converted from the spot after Harry Hoffen, struggling with what appears a serious stomach injury, had been brought down inside the box.

With captain Ed Poulter and vice-captain Fred Richardson watching from the sidelines, there was plenty for the new management duo to digest as preparations for the new season continue.

The next outing for the club is the Jim Dixson six-a-side competition at Aldenham on Sunday, September 2nd.

1st XI Squad v Radley: Raffety (GK); Best, W Orr-Ewing, Defty, Warner; Brunt, Harder, Molloy, Lederman, Breeden, Bourke; Pepys, de Rougemont, H Hoffen.
