1st XI improve but still unable to win

13 Oct 2014

The OHAFC 1st XI fell to their third defeat of the season on Saturday, losing 5-3 at home to newly-promoted Tonbridge. Although it was the best performance of the season to date and the scoreline was the closest yet, it was undoubtedly also the most frustrating of the three defeats so far.

Despite falling behind to two unfortunate goals midway through the first half, the home side fought back well and levelled at the break thanks to strikes from Harry Hoffen and Johan Harder.

The second half saw Harrow tire as the game entered its closing stages and the visitors took advantage to again open up a two-goal lead. Again Harrow reduced the arrears, Hoffen grabbing his second of the game, but a speculative effort from the Tonbridge substitute shortly afterwards settled the outcome.

The OHAFC 1st XI have now made their worst start to a season since being promoted into the top division back in 2000. Some home supporters have even taking to snoozing on a pavilion bench rather than having to watch yet more goals go flying in at the wrong end...
