1st XI open campaign with draw at Forest

30 Sep 2013

The OHAFC 1st XI earned a hard-fought point at Forest School in their opening game of the 2013/14 season on the day chosen by the hosts to help mark the 150th Anniversary of the Football Association.

Harrow began well and could have led after barely a minute when Lederman's free-kick hit the post. Despite enjoying the better of the first half, they fell behind shortly before the break following a defensive lapse from a half-cleared corner.

But the visitors plugged away in the second half, with the defence excelling themselves to keep the deficit to one, and Fred Coleridge-Cole scored an excellent equaliser twenty minutes from time.

Harrow so nearly won it ten minutes later when Johan Harder connected with a fine Fred Richardson cross only to see his firm header clip the top of the bar.

After the game some of the team remained at the school as guests at a dinner to mark the occasion, Harrow and Forest both instrumental in the early foundations of organised football in England.

A full match report and team lineup is now available in the Results section with pictures and video highlights (courtesy of Nick Defty) soon to be uploaded to the Media section.

A report and pictures from the FA dinner will also be available on the website shortly.
