1st XI slump to defeat at struggling Malvern

23 Nov 2013

The OHAFC 1st XI endured a very frustrating afternoon on Saturday when they suffered an undeserved 1-0 defeat to bottom side Malvern on a superb pitch at Brunel University.

The build-up to the game was less than ideal, with numerous players absent and a broken tooth denying the side the services of usual 'keeper Charlie Walsh on the eve of the match.

Despite the farcical nature of the build-up the visitors played well for most of the game and created several clear-cut chances. Alex Breeden missed the best chance midway through the first half before then having a goal wrongly ruled out for offside.

Minutes later the lack of a recognised goalkeeper cost the Blues, stand-in Sam Pepys palming out a shot to a Malvernian striker for a simple tap-in.

Despite again making most of the running in the second half the visitors couldn't find a way past an inspired home goalkeeper who made several fine saves to prevent the equaliser.
