2024/25 Arthurian League fixtures released!
The fixture list for the first two months of the Arthurian League have been released with all three OHAFC sides enjoying a busy programme of games to start the season.
The 1s, led once more by skipper Dan Firoozan, will look to improve on last season’s seventh-place finish in Division One and begin their season with fixtures against two sides who finished either side of them in last season’s table. The Old Wykehamists earned a 2-1 victory on the Harrow astroturf back in January in a game notable for the hosts playing the first twenty minutes with only ten men and they will be back in northwest London again, in sunnier conditions one hopes, for the season opener on September 14th. The Wykehamists finished in 8th last season and the OHAFC then travel to the side who finished in 5th, the Old Radleians, the following week in another repeat of a fixture from January and another defeat for the OHAFC – the hosts running out 2-0 winners on the astroturf in Whitton. September is rounded off for the 1s with a trip to face the Old Ardinians in a first ever meeting between the teams and a precursor to the first round of the Arthur Dunn Cup in late October. The League fixture will be played at Gunnersbury Park, the Cup tie on the Hill – both games should prove highly competitive, the Ardinians having enjoyed a rapid rise up the League in recent seasons.
Prior to that Dunn Cup tie, the 1s play twice in October, at home to the Rugbeians on the 5th and, following a week off, away to the Old Kimboltonians at Hertfordshire University in another first ever meeting between the two sides.
Meanwhile, the OHAFC 2nd XI enjoy two home games to begin their campaign in Division Three before a series of lengthy away trips. The Old Carthusians 2s and Old Alleynians 3s visit the Hill in September, both sides having remained in Division Three last season. But the 2s, this season under new leadership with co-Captains Miles Kellock and Tristan David, then face three arduous away trips in their next four games: a trip down to Kent to face the Old Sennockians beckons on September 28th – last season the game had to be played on astroturf in London because the Sevenoaks School pitches were waterlogged – before the journey to Essex to face Old Brentwoods 3s and then to St Albans to play the Old Albanians at the end of October – a first ever meeting between the teams. A home fixture against last season’s Division Four champions the Old Berkhamstedians 2s breaks up this trio of away games on October 5th.
The OHAFC 3rd XI, in contrast to the 1s and 2s, begin their Division Four campaign away from home and another first ever meeting, this one against last season’s Division Five runners-up the Old Johnians 2s down at Imber Court in Surrey. But the 3s are then afforded three home games in their next four weekends with the Tonbridgians 2s, Brentwoods 4s and Westminsters 2s visiting the Hill, an away trip to face the Old Amplefordians in Chiswick in early October breaking that run. The 3s have the final weekend in October off, but prior to that become the first OHAFC side to play at KCS Wimbledon on the school pitches – the club having moved back there from the awful surfaces at the Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields in Roehampton.
Further fixtures for all three sides will be released as Cup draws and results become known. As ever, all OHAFC games, including relevant information will be displayed in the fixtures section of the website.
