2s overpowered by ruthless Citizens

26 Mar 2019

The OHAFC 2nd XI found themselves with a mountain to climb after surrendering a four-goal advantage away to the Old Citizens on Saturday. Despite producing a much-improved second half performance, the Blues ended the game well beaten, Citizens running out 6-1 winners.

Having ensured relegation had been avoided for the second consecutive season, the Blues had little to play for but pride and the opportunity of climbing one rung on the Division Two table. Despite this, the side fought back well in the second half, dominating for long spells, and they were rewarded for their efforts with a fine goal from James Monroe, who curled into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Defeat keeps the 2s in 7th in the table with two games remaining, still in with a shout of overhauling Chigs in sixth.
