3rd XI Gain Promotion to Division 4

1 Apr 2012

A fantastic effort from Alex Fraysse, Theo Gordon and their squad saw the 3rd XI gain promotion to Division 4 for the second time since its reformation in 2006/2007.

The team finished 2nd in Division 5 behind Old Berkhamstedians after racking up a total of 30 points from 14 games. Foundations were built on a solid / regular back four from Fraysse, Gordon, Kissner, Kunplin and MacGregor along with a bit of class from Charlie Walsh in goal. This consistency saw the side concede just 7 goals from their 7 home fixtures.

Alex Breeden ran the midfield with some excellent performances which were duly recognised by the 2nd XI. Alongside him, Yunus Sert, Shaun Cooper, Will Pridham, Will Noble, Alex Jamal, Ben Kerry and Ed Flach all provided quality when called upon. Gilbert and Magrath were impressive up front which provided the team with the firepower required in order to win games. Azhar Khan also chipped in with some important goals.

Unfortunately, league form could not be replicated in the Cup as Fraysse’s men went down to Old Westminsters II’s in the First Round of the JLC.

The potential introduction of rolling substitutions may benefit the 3s next season and will no doubt present a challenge to Theo Gordon, elected as captain whilst Fraysse completes a work placement.
