Baker injury set to end last every-minute record

29 Nov 2013

The OHAFC 1st XI were dealt a blow this Friday lunchtime with the disappointing news that former skipper Quentin Baker will be out of action until at least the new year with a knee injury suffered in the Vets Cup win on Sunday.

During the game, which the OHAFC came through after extra time, Quen suffered several painful tackles and was hobbling for part of the extra half-hour before being substituted with ten minutes remaining.

The physio report today stated the 37 year-old has suffered kneecap trauma, possibly a small fracture or bone bruise, with the rest period set at six weeks. The good news is that with the Christmas period approaching, it may mean just a solitary game missed, next week's home encounter with the Old Salopians. No fixtures have yet been scheduled for the new year.

Quen's absence from the game next week will end one of the more prestigious current season records in the Club: currently he is the only player in the three Saturday teams to have played every minute of the season to date.

With his enforced rest, the player with the highest percentage of minutes played is likely to be fellow 1st XI squad member Fred Richardson, who has been off the field for just 33 minutes.
