2nd XI: Captain Chopra bags brace in Citizens cup rout

23 Feb 2013

Citizens 1 Harrovians II 6

A solid Harrow performance saw off a decent Citizens outfit who are sitting pretty at the summit of Division 5. The game had been moved to Harrow after the Citizens failed to acquire a ref for their preferred 11.30am KO time.

The South London boys fell behind early on, however, after a well worked build up and side foot finish from Stead. Skipper Chopra then scored his second of the season when his arrowing cross was magnificently over hit leaving the 'keeper stranded. Chopra then added a second, rifling low and hard from 25 yards. An excellent finish. Soyinka was brought down in the box after some good work from Spencer Crawley down the left hand side. Gbeminiyi dispatched the spot kick with ease (scuffing down the centre of the goal with the 'keeper diving to his right).

Harrow defended well in the second half with Maydon and Turner putting in some important tackles at vital times. Soyinka notched up a second half double to complete his seventh hat-trick for the Club and a Harrow win. We await the Quarter-Final draw...
