Fantasy League title also set to go to the wire

10 May 2014

The OHAFC Fantasy Football League is, like the real thing, set to be decided on the final day of the Barclays Premier League season.

Antony Beresford is currently in pole position and, like Manchester City, would require a disastrous performance on the final weekend to rob him of the title.

The 2nd XI striker takes a lead of 37 points over Alex Cater into the final weekend with Conti von Hirsh a further four points behind. With the top three well clear of reigning champion David Lederman in fourth, the 2013/14 title is a straight three-way fight.

Beresford has already smashed his five-year record for his highest overall points score having currently amassed 2,362 points with one round to go - his previous highest total of 2,040 was earned last season.

He started the current campaign slowly, sitting only fourteenth in the table at the end of August. But a remarkable run from October through until the end of March saw him score either the most or second most points each month in the League. It was only a slightly faltering total of 243 points in April that has seen his two closest challengers maintain faint hopes of overtaking him as the season draws to a close.

Whoever wins the title on Sunday will have comfortably beaten the winning score from last season of 2,060.
