Geoff Taunton-Collins awarded 2025 Clover Brown

9 Oct 2025

Former 2nd XI captain Geoff Taunton-Collins was awarded the 2025 Charles Clover Brown Award on Saturday afternoon at the annual Festiphil tournament following many years of outstanding service to the club.

The 37 year-old was a relatively late starter to Arthurian League football, only joining the OHAFC as a 26 year old, but he quickly established himself in the 2s as a flying right-back, racking up 22 appearances in total in his debut season.

His leadership skills were clear to see and, given his outstanding commitment to turning out each week, he was the natural choice to take over the 2s captaincy from Jack Orr-Ewing when he stepped down following the 2014/15 season.

Geoff set a superb example for his squad to follow and led with authority and fairness and was rewarded for his unstinting efforts when the side earned promotion to Division Two at the end of the 2016/17 season with an impressive record of eleven wins and a draw from fourteen games played.

The 2nd XI improved consistently in the following seasons in Division Two, finishing 8th, 6th and 4th twice during the two seasons curtailed due to the pandemic. Relegation back to Division Three was hugely unfortunate in 2022/23, the Blues earning a respectable 18 points from the 18 games played.

Geoff stayed in charge of the side for nine seasons in total, eventually handing over the reins to Miles Kellock and Tristan David ahead of the 2024/25 season. The seamless transition was to be expected given the expert handling Geoff had displayed in the preceding decade.

Now a Veteran, Geoff continues to barely miss a game for the 2s and the Vets and has now racked up over 200 appearances in OHAFC colours - only the second player to achieve this milestone since stats were first kept regularly from the 2009/10 season.

His contribution has been, and continues to be, hugely valued by all and he is a worthy recipient of this year's Charles Clover Brown Award.
