George Taylor wins 2024 Young Player of the Year
1st XI striker George Taylor has been crowned the 2024 Bert Worthy Young Player of the Year, receiving the trophy from club chairman David Lederman prior to Saturday's Arthur Dunn Cup 1st Round tie away to the Old Rugbeians.
The 25 year-old was the leading scorer for the club last season, hitting the net eleven times in twelves appearances for the 1s. He led the line with aggression and no little skill, scoring vital goals including a hat-trick in the 3-1 win over the Old Salopians, the only Harrow goal in the 1-1 draw at home to the Old Kimboltonians and the first goal in the crucial 2-1 win over leaders the Old Brentwoods in March that ensured the OHAFC would stay in Division One.
George made his debut for the club on the opening weekend of the 2021/22 season in the away fixture at KCS Wimbledon. His only other appearance that season came in defeat away to the Old Etonians, but the striker really made his mark in Division One the following year, scoring nine times from eleven appearances.

Injuries restricted George to just six games in 2023/4 and he scored only twice, although both came in impressive wins. But last season he was back to his best, scoring at a goal a game ratio in the League - his ten goals the third highest in the division.
It has been a slow start to the current campaign, although he did claim a scrambled effort in the final minute of his first appearance away to the Old Westminsters a few weeks ago that earned the Blues a 1-1 draw. George will be hoping a consistent run of games will once more see him back among the goals as the 1s bid to climb the Division One table.
