Late Ward winner ensures 2s survive

A Tom Ward header three minutes from time earned the OHAFC 2nd XI a 2-1 win away to the Old Sennockians on Saturday afternoon, ensuring the Blues survival in Division Two ahead of next season.

A hard-fought game played in tricky conditions on a hard, bumpy pitch at Sevenoaks School, appeared to be heading Harrow's way courtesy of a first-half goal from Cyprian Owen Edmunds.

But the hosts were gifted the chance to level from the spot with a quarter of an hour remaining, Ed Massey the unlucky man penalised for handball when a shot was smashed into his arm from two yards away.

Fortunately, this injustice was rendered irrelevant when Ward strode forwards to head home Miles Kellock's corner and secure the vital three points that ensures the 2s will finish at least eighth in the table, with the possibility of climbing as high as sixth following next weekend's final fixture away to the Chigwellians.
