Martins to take break from regular football

16 May 2013

Reports have emerged that 1st XI Vice Captain, Ed Martins, will be taking a break from regular football following his move to Southampton two years ago. Ed has made the following statement:

"I am afraid that after seven seasons of playing for the OHAFC, I have decided not to make it an eighth for now.

For the last two seasons I have been based in Southampton and the travelling has become too much of a strain on my time and resource. You will all know how much I love my football and playing for the club - it saddens me to have to come to the conclusion that it is no longer practical to do so. It has not been without lengthy consideration.

Should ExxonMobil feel they would like to send me to their London offices, be sure that I will grace the Arthurian League once again! Until then, I will of course remain in close contact with my friends at the Club and be available in an administrative role if required."

Chairman, Andy Butler, thanked Ed for his 'huge contribution on the playing field and administrative side' over the past years.

The one-time Arthur Dunn Cup and Premier Division winner will be sorely missed and we hope he will be back in OHAFC colours before too long.

A new 1st XI Vice Captain will be elected at the forthcoming AGM on 18th June.
