Ned Callander and Tegjit Johar shine in Cholms rout

OHAFC III 6 Old Cholmeleians IV 0

Heavy rain over the last two weeks culminated in a venue change to Chiswick astroturf. Harrow were changed and warmed up before their Cholmeleian counterparts had arrived. Well, most of the Harrow contingent anyway...

After a directions mix up, the Blues started the game with ten men. Kapoor and Ilogu were in Chiswick Boathouse as Richard Wilson blew for kick off and were seen comically circling the pitch ten minutes into the game in an effort to reach the changing rooms.

Despite this, Harrow started the stronger. Faber, Beeley (who was instrumental from minute one), Ludo Callander and debutant Alex Cadisch were pressing high in the opponents' half, catching Cholms in possession on a number of occasions.

The first goal came after 20 minutes. Cadisch, who was working tirelessly on the right wing, lobbed the Cholms' stopper with a cross come shot - the ball looping tantalizingly over his head. Cadisch received his comeuppance soon after however, retiring to the sidelines with cramp and asthma. The newbie showed a lot of promise in the opening exchanges and skippers Turner & Fogarty will be grateful for his services until the end of the season.

Harrow's second was a result of an excellent through ball from Thorn from inside his own half. Ned Callander pounced on it and rounded the 'keeper, finishing with aplomb.

Then came the moment the supporters had been waiting for. A promising move down the right hand side was executed with incredible precision by Tegjit Johar, who was making his return to the side after a lengthy injury lay off. Johar controlled the ball beautifully before flicking it over one defender, going past a second and drilling it left-footed into the bottom right hand corner of the net. An exquisite goal that even Dele Alli would have been proud of.

The half-time whistle blew with Harrow three up and their spirits sky high.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first. Fogarty's men were dominant. On 60 minutes, Beeley won the ball and unselfishly fed Ned Callander for his second, the front man calmly slotting to the 'keeper's left. Ten minutes later, a scrap in the box saw the ball land at Kapoor's feet who rifled home into the roof of the net. Such was Kapo's delight, his celebration was prolonged unnecessarily - starting inside the opposition's box and finishing on the halfway line.

Harrow's defence was holding strong - McHardy, Thorn, Fogarty and Ilogu were assertive at the back throughout the game, the latter showing some excellent footwork at times and unleashing a superb left-footed drive from outside the box which drifted narrowly wide. Fogarty was frustrated by the away side's offside trap late on and Sewell was unlucky not to score after thumping the post.

There was time for a final flourish. Ned Callander, who was potent all afternoon, latched onto a through ball in the left channel. The striker opened his body up and fired a superb shot across the 'keeper into the top right corner, hitting post and bar on the way in. A fine hat-trick and welcome goals in the absence of the recently promoted Alex Smith.

With the scoreline 6-0, Harrow were worthy winners and had laid to rest the ghost of 35 games without a clean sheet. The Blues remain in third, two points behind Merchant Taylors who have a game in hand.
