On this weekend...Opening Day Special!

12 Sep 2014

Today we take a look back at the last five years' worth of opening weekends for the three OHAFC teams.

There have been twelve games played by the Club on opening weekend and the record is a mixed one with five wins, six defeats and one draw.

Interestingly, half the opening day fixtures have been against just two Clubs, Forest and Brentwood, with four games having been played against the former and two against the latter. The OHAFC 1st XI's opponents tomorrow? Yup, Old Foresters...

Five Seasons Ago: October 3rd 2009

OHAFC 1st XI 4 Old Salopians 2: An excellent opening day performance and win courtesy of goals from Ed Martins (2), Piers Bourke and David Lederman

Forest 2's 4 OHAFC 2nd XI 3: The 2's suffered a narrow defeat in north London despite two goals from Bemini Soyinka and another from Ed Arghebant. Olly Hadden-Paton didn't help the cause when he was sent off for two bookable offences

Four Seasons Ago: September 11th 2010

OHAFC 1st XI 0 Old Foresters 5: A chastening opening day for the dark Blues who were put to the sword by a much fitter, better organised Forest outfit

Brentwood 3's 1 OHAFC 2nd XI 3: A great opening day win for the 2's thanks to goals from Nick Bartlett, Mike Okoigun and Stof Magrath

Three Seasons Ago: September 10th 2011

OHAFC 1st XI 0 Old Wykehamists 2: Another poor opening day defeat for the 1's, who weren't helped by having to call up Charlie Reid to play in goal just hours before kick-off

Old Cholmeleians 2's 8 OHAFC 2nd XI 1: An even worse start for the 2's who were thrashed by a rampant Cholms side. Harry Gibson's solitary strike was no consolation

Two Seasons Ago: September 22nd - October 6th 2012

Old Brentwoods 1 OHAFC 1st XI 3 - An outstanding performance and win for the Club with goals from Piers Bourke, Luke de Rougemont and Charlie Stebbings securing three points at one of the traditionally harder Premier Division venues

Old Etonian 2's 1 OHAFC 2nd XI 2: A fine win for the 2's as well thanks to another brace from all-time leading scorer Bemini Soyinka

OHAFC 3rd XI 2 Old Eastbournians 0: Alex Gilbert scored twice for the 3's to complete a clean sweep of triumphs for the Club

Last Season: September 28th 2013

Old Foresters 1 OHAFC 1st XI 1: The Harrow 1's earned a hard-fought point at Forest thanks to a second-half strike header from Fred Coleridge-Cole

OHAFC 2nd XI 1 Old Forest 2's 3: The 2's went behind early in unusual circumstances when stand-in 'keeper Harry Turner handled the ball having already rolled it out to himself. A second Forest goal on the half-hour gave the visitors control but new boy Anthony Beresford reduced the arrears just before the break. Sadly, the visitors sealed the points early in the second half thanks to a penalty

Old Sennockians 6 OHAFC 3rd XI 1: The 3rd XI were comfortably beaten by Sevenoaks on an atrocious pitch, Alex Jamal scoring the visitors consolation effort
