Pepys brace and Harder strike earn 1st XI 3-0 win over Forest

20 Oct 2012

The 1st XI recovered from their first defeat of the season at Lancing last weekend with a deserved 3-0 victory over Forest on Saturday. With nine points from their first four games, and with every other side apart from Lancing having already dropped points, the team are in a good position to mount a challenge for top spot in the coming weeks.

Saturday's win was earned thanks to a good first-half display from the team, a resolute second-half and three long-range strikes from the centre midfielders, one from Johan Harder in the first half and two from Sam Pepys in the space of ten second half minutes.

The Harrow back five of Raffety, Poulter, Orr-Ewing, Milln and Martins looked secure throughout and Harder and Pepys made a powerful midfield combination. But it was the front two of Stebbings and Defty who really caught the eye, Defty clearly enjoying his finest game for the team for several seasons and giving skipper Poulter another option to use up front in the continued absence of Harry Hoffen and Oli Hadden-Paton.
