President's Drinks enjoyed by 1st & 3rd XI's

16 Dec 2014

OHAFC President's drinks drew only lukewarm support on Saturday evening with, for some unknown reason, the vast majority of the 2nd XI deciding they had better options for the evening.

Nevertheless, a strong showing from the 1st and 3rd XI's, both of whom had tasted defeat in their afternoon matches, ensured that an enjoyable few hours was spent upstairs at the Princess Victoria Pub in Earls Court.

Social Secretary Alec Fogarty organised proceedings and Club President Andy Butler was present to ensure Bobby Tindall did not run through the complimentary drinks tab on his own.

After a short speech from Butler, the contents of which were soon forgotten by all, some rather tasty canapes were served - or, to be more accurate, not served, just left on the side by the cash register. Nevertheless, the chicken skewers and fish bites were a welcome distraction for many, the ample supplies of beer and vegetable-related tales from Tindall seemingly continuing ad infinitum.

It was clearly time to call it a night when the best entertainment left on offer was watching Harry Hoffen stick as many Christmas baubles into Tally Hackett's handbag as he could without her noticing.

A big thankyou is due to both the President, Andy 'Drew' Butler, for his generosity and to Social Secretary Alec 'Foggy' Fogarty for arranging the event.

The next major social occasion for the Club is the dinner on February 27th, for the first time being held at the Hurlingham Club in south west London.
