Pritchard hangs up his gloves

8 Jan 2015

2nd XI stalwart Alasdair Pritchard, 29, has called time on a glittering few years with OHAFC. A combination of extended working hours and a fiery other half has heaped pressure on his Saturday afternoon commitment.

The ex-2nd XI stopper made his debut for the Club as an attacking midfielder in 2009. Flicks, tricks and hairbands continued until Christmas when the 2nd XI called for a goalkeeper following an injury to Rudy de Oliveira. Having experience as a 5-a-side keeper at school, Pritch stepped up and never looked back. Already accomplished with the ball at his feet, his kicking and positioning improved with each game.

The 2010/2011 season saw Alasdair established as the 2nd XI no.1 with fine displays in a number of games namely Old Amplefordians (H) and Lancing Old Boys (A) – his first clean sheet. A string of reaction saves vs Old Aldenhamians saw their on-looking Chairman approach the Harrow bench to ask, “Is your keeper on drugs?” The season was capped with an historic win over Charterhouse 2s in the JLC final - Pritch proving his worth once again with Harrow clinching glory 3-2.

The following year Pritch was again involved in another historic Junior League Cup run - this time Chopra's 2s losing out to a very strong Charterhouse 3s in the final.

Many thanks to Alasdair for his unrivalled eccentricity between the sticks but also to his 66 appearances over the last five and a half seasons.
