Walsh injury mars 1st XI Charterhouse defeat

30 Mar 2014

1st XI goalkeeper Charlie Walsh suffered a dislocated knee during Saturday's 3-1 defeat to League champions Charterhouse ruling him out of the final two games of the season.

The injury, sustained as he made a superb save an hour into the match, left the 24 year-old writhing on the ground in agony and caused the match to be halted for fifteen minutes as an ambulance was called. Fortunately, the knee joint replaced itself into the correct position after a couple of minutes but Charlie was still in severe pain and taken to Guildford Hospital at the end of the game. It is likely that the knee will have to be operated on to ensure the joint is fully repaired and the 'keeper faces a long period of rehabilitation before he is able to play again.

The match itself saw the OHAFC 1st XI field one of the youngest ever lineups in club history, including three current schoolboys, and the side performed creditably, reducing the deficit to 2-1 with twenty minutes remaining before the hosts sealed the points with their third ten minutes from time.

The team lineup and match report is now available in the Results section and further updates on Charlie Walsh's condition will be made available in the coming weeks.
