Weekend Round-Up: Mixed bag for the three teams

24 Sep 2023

The three OHAFC Saturday sides suffered contrasting fortunes this weekend.

The 1st XI were hugely unlucky in conceding an 87th minute goal away to the Old Rugbeians that consigned them to an undeserved 4-3 defeat. Goals from Ed Beecham, Fabian Dobree and Will Payne appeared to have earned the Blues a point, but the visitors somehow conceded the winner from a throw-in deep in Rugby territory.

The less said about the 2s' performance the better. Following last weekend's excellent 6-2 win over the Old Shirburnians there were high hopes for a repeat result against the Old Epsomians. But despite playing against ten men for nearly 70 minutes, following a red card for dissent, the Blues struggled to impose themselves for much of the game and were deservedly beaten 6-2.

But on the adjoining pitch, there was much better news as the 3s saw off a strong Wellingtonian side to win 6-3 - Freddie Everett was the star of the show with a four-goal salvo, Alfie Hayes grabbing the other two.

Team sheets and match reports from all three games are now available in the results section.
