Weekend Round-Up: 1s & 2s earn entertaining draws
The second weekend of the OHAFC season saw the 1st & 2nd XIs earn entertaining draws in north London, whilst the 3s suffered a heavy defeat on the Harrow astroturf.
The OHAFC 1st XI were denied a first win of the new season in heart-breaking circumstances on Saturday morning, a last-minute equaliser allowing the Old Rugbeians to snatch a 2-2 draw on a cloudy Harrow Hill. Star man for the OHAFC was young forward Cameron Mahal, playing just his second game at this level, who twice gave the hosts the lead only for the visitors to spoil his day in dramatic circumstances late on.
The 2nd XI travelled to Haberdashers School in Elstree for the latest instalment of what has become something of a grudge match. But the two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, the visitors leading three times but each time were pegged back by the same opponent - the Habs left winger scoring a superb hat-trick to earn his side a share of the spoils. Harrow's goals came courtesy of Andy Hutchinson (2) and Ed Stewart.
Following an encouraging opening day draw at home to the Old Canfordians, the OHAFC 3rd XI returned to the school astroturf but this time fell to a hugely disappointing 4-1 defeat to the Old Shirburnians. The hosts fell behind after just two minutes and never looked likely to overcome a determined opposition. The only bright spark came ten minutes from time, Adam Graham opening his account for the season from the spot.
Team sheets and match reports from all three games are now available in the results section.
