Weekend Round-Up: 1s allstars seal first win
The OHAFC 1st claimed their first win of the season on Saturday courtesy of a little help from some familiar faces. Elsewhere, the 2s fell to a second consecutive defeat whilst the 3s earned an excellent point against the Division Four leaders.
The OHAFC 1st XI sailed to their first victory of the season at Kings House in Chiswick, defeating bottom side the Old Salopians 3-1. The Blues welcomed back some familiar faces, with the Breeden brothers, Alex and James, the Bicks, Charlie and Harry, and Kyle Barrett all turning out to aid the cause. It took James just five minutes to find the back of the net, although the hosts levelled after half an hour following a poor clearance from keeper Tom Mitchell.
But a goal early in the second half from Jasper Gray and a superb free-kick from James Walduck ensured the visitors would leave with three points that lifts the side to 6th in Division One.
The OHAFC 2nd XI suffered a second consecutive defeat on the Hill in maddeningly similar circumstances to last week's 4-2 loss to the Old Westminsters 2s.
Once again, this time against Division Two leaders the Old Berkhamstedians 2s, the Blues conceded from an early corner and gifted the visitors a second from a soft penalty. Miles Kellock scored Harrow's effort, also from the spot, midway through the second half, but an equaliser failed to materialise and the 2s now slip to fifth in Division Three.
But there was better news from the adjoining Phil pitch where the OHAFC 3rd XI earned a superb 1-1 draw against the Division Four leaders the Old Amplefordians - a side who had hitherto won all three of their previous fixtures.
Skipper Freddie Everett scored ten minutes into the second half and the hosts spurned a couple of presentable chances to score before the visitors spoiled victory hopes with a well-worked goal ten minutes from time. Nevertheless, the 3s register an encouraging point in their battle to climb away from the foot of the table.
Team sheets and reports from all three games are now available in the results section.
