Weekend Round-Up: 1s denied deserved point
Just the 1st XI were in action on the day of the OHAFC dinner, with the side travelling east to face Division One promotion hopefuls the Old Foresters at Old Parkonians FC in Fairlop.
And a makeshift Harrow side containing several 2nd XI regulars did themselves proud on a tricky pitch, battling superbly in the first half and taking the lead when Arthur Leney showed great persistence to win the ball back inside the penalty area and fire past the keeper.
The second half proved a real struggle for both sides on the uneven playing surface, but to the hosts credit they snatched victory with two well-worked goals inside the last half-hour. James Walduck had a brilliant opportunity to snatch the win for the Blues with twelve minutes remaining when, with the sides level at 1-1, he was played through on goal by Owain James. But the finish was too straight and allowed the keeper to block.
The 1s finish their campaign next weekend at Kimbolton knowing that they are now safe from the drop - the Old Etonians' victory over the Wykehamists means the latter will join the Old Westminsters in Division Two next season.
Saturday's team sheet and match report from Fairlop are now available in the results section.
