Weekend Round-Up: 3s earn vital first win of season

All three OHAFC sides were in action on Saturday - the first time there has been a full roster of games in nearly a month. The major headline was a vital first victory of the season for the 3s, who claimed a 2-1 win over the Old Wykehamists 2s courtesy of two long-range free-kicks from Jordan Holmes and Charlie Dunn.

In danger of bring cut adrift at the foot of Division Four, the 3s simply had to win on Saturday and they could have made life far simpler if they'd taken just a few of the numerous clear chances they carved out in the first half. As it was, victory was eventually earned courtesy of two set-piece deliveries from way out - Jordan Holmes curled an unstoppable delivery into the far top corner from the right wing and then, following a Winchester equaliser, Charlie Dunn did likewise, although his effort really should have been held by the keeper. Nevertheless, victory moves the 3s within touching distance of the sides above them in the table ahead of this weekend's clash with the Old Epsomians.

On the adjoining Phil pitch, the 2s kept their promotion push going with a second victory of the season over the Old Tonbridgian 2s. Second half goals from skipper Tristan David, substitute Matt Ede and leading scorer Andy Hutchinson ensured a comfortable win following a tight first half.

Not such good news arrived from Chiswick, however, as the 1st XI eventually fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the impressive Old Ardinians. Despite an excellent first-half showing, the Blues missed several chances to take the lead and were made to pay as the home side took advantage of some slack Harrow defending to open the scoring. George Taylor bundled in an equaliser after half an hour, but the second half followed a similar pattern, with the Blues again missing chances and being made to pay with a couple of unfortunate goals consigning the visitors to defeat.
