Weekend Round-Up: 3s ensure survival

8 Apr 2025

Very mixed results for the OHAFC 2nd and 3rd XIs this weekend in their final fixtures of the season, but the 3s claimed the all-important win they needed at home to the Old King’s Scholars to ensure they survive in Division Four.

With availability a real struggle for both sides, priority was given to the 3s and they responded in style, recording a 3-0 win at home to the Old King’s Scholars on the Harrow astroturf that ensures the Old Johnians 2s will joins King’s in Division Five next season. Sam Dunn scored twice, the second a 30 yard screamer that crashed in off the underside of the bar, Alvin Adefarasin grabbed the other. The 3s’ final League fixture, the away game against the same opposition, will now not be played and will be awarded to the OHAFC as an away win meaning they end the season in mid-table with a tally of 18 points.

Not such good news arrived from northeast London where a depleted 2s side ended their campaign with a crushing 9-1 defeat at the hands of a rejuvenated Old Chigwellians 2s. A disastrous start saw the visitors concede almost immediately and the side found themselves 8-1 down at the break, Owain James providing the lone positive note. Although the fixture was, to all intent and purposes, meaningless, it was nevertheless a deeply disappointing way for the side to conclude what had been to that point a decent campaign. The 2s finish sixth in Division Three with 23 points.
