Woolley wins Jubilee Cup after final shootout

4 Dec 2011

On 4th December, twelve OHAFC members and eighteen current Harrovians assembled in the Sports Hall for the annual Jubilee Cup Five-a-Side Tournament.

Six teams competed, initially in two groups, under the watchful eye of Match Official Dr Stephen Harrison who was aided by the former OHAFC President, Fred Woolley. Some exciting and skilful football ensued as the holder, David Lederman, battled to retain his winning captain’s crown. It was not to be, with the team headed by Gbeminyi Soyinka and Alex Breeden reaching the Final at his expense.

In the other Semi-final, the Harry Woolley / Ed Martins team survived a tough challenge led by Jack Orr-Ewing and Yunus Sert. The final went to the wire with Woolley firing home the winner in a penalty shoot-out to become the most popular winning captain in recent times.

The tournament lived up to expectation and, in the victory ceremony, Fred Woolley thanked Dr Harrison for refereeing the tournament in its entirety whilst reluctantly paying tribute to his son’s outstanding achievement!
