Alex Breeden

biography

Alex joined the Club straight after leaving school in 2011 and quickly became a leading performer in the promising 3rd XI. Quick, physically strong thanks to regular martial arts training, 'Breeds' is an all-action midfielder, happy in the middle or on the right hand side. He possesses bags of energy and a keen eye for goal, with a powerful shot on him.

He ended up playing 12 games for the 2nd XI as well as the entire 3rd XI fixture list in his debut season and was rewarded for his performances with a place in the 2nd XI squad against Charterhouse 3s in the 2012 Junior League Cup Final.

Despite finishing runners-up from that final, a fantastic first season for Alex was rounded off with him being awarded the Robert Worthy Young Player of the Year.

Following a year in China for his degree, Alex returned to London for the start of the 2013/14 season and was quickly installed as a regular in the centre of the 1st XI midfield. It was fortunate the youngster had returned, with regulars Quentin Baker and Fred Richardson both absent for numerous games with injury and work.

Alex performed creditably given that the side struggled for much of the season, his fitness levels allowing him to cover vast swathes of the pitch every week. Indeed, his reliability and commitment deserved special mention, with only three games missed all season and regular appearances at training.

Alex also enjoyed his first Easter Tour in 2014, forming part of the tour party to Hamburg. He was surprisingly low on the weird list, despite only drinking whisky all weekend.

Alex missed much of the 2015/16 season with another spell in China but he returned in the latter half of the campaign and had an immediate effect, scoring five goals in five League games, including a memorable hat-trick in the 5-0 drubbing of Bradfield, as the 1s secured promotion back into the Premier Division.

The following year was once more a struggle for the 1st XI as they battled in vain to avoid the drop back into Division One. Alex was one of the more consistent performers, playing in 14 League and Cup games and scoring a couple of goals.
