1s comeback foiled in closing stages

21 Oct 2020

The OHAFC 1st XI threatened a second-half comeback away to the Old Wykehamists on Saturday afternoon, but were eventually overrun in the closing stages, conceding four late goals to finish well beaten.

Despite starting brightly, the visitors fell behind after twenty minutes. The game was held up following a nasty clash of heads involving Chris Abdo and a Winchester player, both of whom had to be helped from the field. Two further goals prior to the break saw the hosts lead 3-0.

But an Ed Beecham effort on the hour-mark hinted a comeback may be on the cards until the Blues capitulated late on, the hosts taking advantage of some fatigue in the visitors' ranks to give the scoreline a thoroughly one-sided look.

Unsurprisingly, the OHAFC remain bottom of the Premier Division table ahead of Saturday's visit of KCS Wimbledon Old Boys to the Phil.
