1s hammered by rampant Charterhouse

22 Sep 2020

The OHAFC 1st XI were put to the sword by a rampant Old Carthusians side on Saturday afternoon.

Playing on the astroturf at Brunel University, the Blues gifted the reigning League champions a couple of first-half goals through sloppy defensive play. Trailing 4-0 at the break, the second half was a lesson in damage limitation and the visitors, with a bare eleven available on the day, appeared to have weathered the storm, keeping their goal intact until the final twenty minutes.

But the floodgates then opened however, as the visitors poured forwards down either flank, delivering a number of dangerous crosses into the box that were finished with clinical precision. Skipper Fraser McGuinness was powerless to intervene as the hosts ran up their second double-digit score against the Blues in six seasons.

The squad have little to time to feel sorry for themselves however, with another tough away test against the Old Tonbridgians to come on Saturday.

Saturday's team sheet and a brief report on the carnage is available in the results section here.
