1s stung by Alleynians thrashing

23 Sep 2019

Following a highly encouraging opening day win over the Old Bradfieldians, the OHAFC 1st XI travelled to south London confident of another competitive outing against a side they have enjoyed several skirmishes with in recent seasons: the Old Alleynians.

What transpired, however, was an absolute thrashing as the visitors struggled to get out of first gear for much of the ninety minutes. An encouraging start gave way to some slack defending at set-pieces - Alleynians scoring from two long throws on an usually narrow pitch - and the Blues were unable to recover, trailing 4-0 at the break.

Worse was to come in the second half, Hugo Trower suffering a knee injury that ended his afternoon early and meant Harrow playing the remaining half an hour with just ten men. Alleynians scored a fifth soon after his departure and rounded the afternoon off in style, scoring twice more to inflict the 1s' highest League defeat on them since the embarrassing 10-1 defeat away to Carthusians miday through the 2014/15 season.

Saturday's team lineup and a mercifully brief match report are now available in the results section here.
